Piha R&R Cyclone Update 17 July
Piha Cyclone recovery continues:
Piha R&R representatives are meeting weekly with Piha Community Liaison Officer Simon Fraser. We work on getting new information, clarifying some of the information already distributed and focusing on the issues we know are important to the Piha community. Contact us by Email HERE if you have issues you would like us to pursue.
Piha Matariki Festival was a great success and will add to the funds already distributed to deserving Piha families who have been adversely affected by Cyclone Gabrielle and it’s aftermath. The charity auction alone raise $30,000. Well done Jenene Crossan and her volunteer team.
Auckland Council & Auckland Transport are responsible for a wide range of remedial works across the city. Resources for this work, including manpower and machines, are scarce across all affected areas of the country, not just in Auckland. We keep pushing for recognition of theneed of the Piha community.
Piha Domain is being cleaned up and prepared for grass seeding. Let us all work to keep the hooligans from destroying the work with their “wheelies.”
The Piha Road lookout slip repairs have been contracted to Downer. However, the engineering design details still have not been finalised for “sign-off” and hand-over to Downer. We are hoping this will not delay commencement of the works.
