Piha/Karekare: Update on GHD’s landslide risk assessment

GHD is still on track to complete their landslide risk assessment and deliver a final report by late September, as previously advised in the timeline shared in the 25 May newsletter.

Piha and Karekare residents may be aware that the Muriwai community has started receiving provisional results of the GHD area wide study and how that applies to properties within the Risk Categorisation framework. This includes a draft copy of GHD’s report for impacted property owners, and an indication of Risk Categorisation category for the property. The landslide risk assessment study in Piha and Karekare has been running approximately one month behind Muriwai throughout the study, and is still on track for completion by late September (as previously advised in our 25 May newsletter).

We expect to start running a series of community meetings, direct engagement with affected property owners, and opportunities for one-on-one meetings with geotechnical staff from late September. Details and dates for these will be confirmed closer to the time.
