Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area - Consultation
Public consultation on Waitākere Ranges Heritage Area Deed of Acknowledgement project is now open.
Piha is part of the Waityakere Ranges Heritage area. Auckland Council is bound to undertake certain duties speciafied in the Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area Act 2008. Some of the requirements of the Act have not been addressed and/or receive less than stellar attention.
One requirement, Clause 29 of the Act, is a Deed of Acknowledgement, whish is now being proposed and open for submissions from YOU.
The Waitākere Ranges Heritage Area is a treasured landscape, rich in history, culture, and biodiversity. Auckland Council, together with other parties, is progressing a proposed Deed of Acknowledgement under the Waitākere Ranges Heritage Area Act 2008. This formal agreement would set out how tangata whenua can contribute to the care, management, and protection of the Heritage Area alongside the Crown and Council.
