Piha R&R News Update - 12th November

Summer is starting to show it’s influence, with the weather warming up, more people at the beach, both Surf Clubs in full operation and the Tennis and Bowling Club facilities being well used. The Piha Domain is being leveled and replanted and your Piha R&R committee is working with Auckland Council to get further improvements that nay include deterrents for the donut brigade.

Piha Comminity News: The latest edition o0f the PCN is due to go on sale thes Friday 15th November, so get your copy from the Piha Store, Library, or {Post Office. Members free copy is available from the Piha Post Office.

Rayner Road Residents: Sandra Coney from the Waitakere Ranges Local Board has talked to Brinkleys who notified residents they were working in the road from this Friday to build a retaining wall where there is a slip. They mentioned in that letter that the road would be open only to residents. On the phone, they assured me they are not going to stop any residents or non-residents using the road. If someone needs to get to your house they will be able to. They will just have a STOP-GO operating. They have permission from AT. Auckland Council Recovery Office have published the latest Update (Nov. 7th). An item titled “Council considers options for homes with access affected by 2023 landslips” may be of interest to some Piha property owners affected by slips from the road reserve. Road Repairs: There is a comprehensive report from from Auckland Transport dated October (see link below) that includes news that the Oratia, West Coast Road slip will be repaired this month. See page 24 of the report.) Fingers crossed. See the Auckland Transport October Report HERE.

Book Keeper: Is there a book keeper in the community who would be interested in taking care of the Piha R&R accounts. This could be a voluntary effort or a part time employment opportunity, depending on your level of interest and involvement. Email us for more information if interested.

Membership: We encourage all members of the Piha community to become members. Strong membership gives us a strong voice to advocate with Council for improved services, maintenance and infrastructure for Piha. Fees are currently $25 per member for the year. (1st November, 2024 thru 31 October, 2025.) This includes free copies of the Piha Community News. Please support your community.
