Reminder: Piha and Karekare community meetings this Saturday
Community meetings will be held this Saturday to provide updates on the GHD study and risk assessment processes.
At these meetings, we will explain how the placard review process will work following categorisation so the next steps are clear for you. Please note that results won’t yet be ready to share with you at these meetings.
All members of the Piha and Karekare communities are welcome to attend one of the meetings below.
At each of these meetings, Ross Roberts, Head of Resilience at Auckland Council will discuss the geotechnical reports and answer any questions you may have about them.
Piha community meeting: 10am-12noon, Barnett Hall, 2 North Piha Road, Piha
Karekare community meeting: 2-4pm, Karekare Surf Club, 34 Watchmans Road, Karekare
For those who cannot attend these meetings, a summary video will be produced for the community and we will share this via newsletter.
Release of GHD reports and initial property category
Reports will be released in clusters based on when the reports are completed by GHD. Unfortunately, these are taking longer than expected because the GHD assessments completed so far have identified some further modelling which is required to complete their study. We recognise that this will be frustrating for those property owners that are affected, and we apologise for the delay.
Later this week, we will be communicating directly with affected property owners in Piha and Karekare to advise them of the timeframe for contacting them with their initial property category and a draft GHD geotechnical report.
