Piha/Karekare: Updates on road repairs

Piha remediation work

The sequence of works for Piha Road, Glenesk Road and Rayner Road has changed due to design challenges.

Piha Road – the design has been peer-reviewed and updates are now being made.  Construction is expected to start in the next two months.

Glenesk Road – the design is now out for peer review.

Rayner Road – monitoring is ongoing. Design solutions will be developed on the back of this monitoring.

We appreciate these changes to the initial timelines we provided may be frustrating, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Karekare remediation work

The long-term remediation of the significant slip sites around Karekare are currently in the design process.

Karekare Road – the design review process is nearing completion and we are beginning to prepare for construction which will be approximately three months duration. Fulton Hogan will continue to liaise with neighbours and those affected by the planned works, which will include full road closures at times. More details will be provided to the Karekare community prior to works starting.

Lone Kauri Road – the approximately three month construction period will follow the completion of works on Karekare Road and are currently likely to commence early 2024.
