Piha R&R have been working with Council since early last year to have the Piha Beach ablution block refurbished.
After one false start, we met with their project manager on site at the beginning of March to go over the proposed works. They are going to replace the rusted outdoor shower and install suitable drainage to get rid of the “pond”, reroof the building, replace/repair rotting truss ends, sandblast and recoat/regalvanise the entry doors, replace all rusted/corroded fittings and fixtures, clean and repair tiled areas, recoat the floors, coat the exterior timber walls and generally bring the facility back to a clean, healthy and aesthetically acceptable standard appropriate to Piha. We look forward to work starting soon after Easter.
The facilities were something to be proud of when first erected, but that was more than 20 years ago and little has been done since. We look forward to a much improved facility.
