Piha R&R Assn. received yesterday (March, 27) the following advice and we would welcome any comments HERE.
Auckland Council has told us, “The volume of sand to reduce the dune down has been calculated as approximately 480m3, calculated based on a recent topographic survey of the dune completed on the 24th February 2017. Sand will be disbursed across a large (>15,000m2) intertidal extent north of Lion Rock. The volume of sand to be redistributed is less than 5% of the proposed dispersal area and very minor in the context of the entire 2.7km Piha coastal cell.
Piha R&R has requested a copy of the environmental Impact report for this work that we understand contravenes the law with regard to activities below the mean high water mark.
