Piha Lagoon has been unsafe for swimming for the whole 2015/16 summer.
Auckland Council tests water samples from seventy(70) sites around Auckland. Testing ceases at the end of summer(31st March) and for the whole summer the five(5) West Coast Beach fresh water locations tested above 100 E.coli.100ml. They are Bethells Lagoon, Karekare Carpark, Karekare Lagoon, Piha North Lagoon and Piha South Lagoon. Piha South Lagoon has been recorded UNSAFE for the entire summer.
Piha R&R are fighting hard with Auckland Council to resolve the pollution issue in the Piha Lagoons. Please forward any comments to us by Email.
