Auckland Council has engaged EcoMatters Environment Trust to survey the area from Seaview Road and GlenEsk Road south, including Piha Road and Te Ahuahu Road to Karekare Road for the existence of Climbing Asparagus, which is recognised as the most invasive pest plant in the Waitakere Ranges and an eminent danger to the native forest. EcoMatters is currently calling door to door in the above area to ask permission to inspect your property for this weed. Please cooperate.
EcoMatters has door-knocked properties in Marine Parade Sth., Seaview, Beach Valley, Glen Esk, Rayner and Pendrell Roads. If they missed you at home it is still not too late to be involved in the project. All enquiries should be addressed to Pamela Gill from EcoMatters on 021 308 257 or pamela@ecomatters.org.nz . You can learn more about Pest Plants & Weeds HERE and you can Download the Climbing Asparagus Info HERE.
