Fireworks at Piha cause fires that destroy precious native vegetation and threaten homes, baches and community facilities. This is a fact, and we have been fortunate on numerous occasions that the Piha Volunteer Fire Brigade and local residents have been able to avoid injury and prevent serious loss from fires ignited by Fireworks.
PLEASE DO NOT LIGHT FIREWORKS AT PIHA.
You can celebrate Guy Fawkes night at the Waitakere Trusts Stadium – See here for more details
Setting off Fireworks in all Public areas of Piha, including the beach, roads, parks, the Domain, Lion Rock and Tasman Lookout, is against the Law and those responsible are liable to significant fines. This includes flares and signals. If your children do it, you will be held responsible.
We will all have an enjoyable evening if we are not worried by the threat of Fireworks setting alight to the Piha bush.
The Piha R&R is working on a Fireworks education plan for Piha in conjunction with the Piha Volunteer Brigade and you will hear more before Christmas.
